Today, Governor O’Malley and the Maryland in Asia Delegation are headed home after a successful 10-day economic development trip. The jobs mission included exciting announcements like Tasly investing $40 million into Maryland, visits with companies that recognize Maryland as a great place to live, work and do business and meetings with public officials and institutions that strengthened our already robust trade and economic development relations with one of the world’s fastest growing markets.
And all throughout the trip, our team received blackberry photos, videos and twitter updates from the delegation abroad. Ten years ago, we may have received one phone call. This ability to connect, like we never have been able to before, is exactly why Governor O’Malley led an economic development trip to Asia. In this changing new economy, the states that win will be those that reach across borders to share knowledge and research, develop successful partnerships and leverage the power of innovation to create jobs here at home.
