Welcome
On behalf of Governor Martin O’Malley and the citizens of our great State, I want to welcome you to Maryland. You will find a variety of options to live, work, learn, and play here in the Maryland, the Old Line State, either as an employee of a Department of Defense command relocating due to Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC), a defense contractor supporting those commands, or a business owner seeking BRAC-related opportunities.
I am honored that Governor O’Malley has appointed me as Chair of the Governor’s Subcabinet on Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC). As an organization, our primary mission is to ensure that Maryland is BRAC-ready by 2011. To accomplish this mission, we will coordinate across State agencies and collaborate with our federal, regional and local partners to help direct and prepare for BRAC-related growth opportunities, while sustaining and enhancing the quality of life of our Maryland citizens.
In every respect, Maryland is prepared to undertake the responsibility of being a national leader in the on-going support of the patriotic men and women, the warfighters, who keep our country safe. I want to express my profound gratitude and sincere desire to work with our citizens to ensure a successful BRAC process for you and your family. We look forward to the many opportunities to come and welcome you as our newest Maryland neighbors!
