GRANTS ON THE LINE: How to successfully complete the Grants.gov registration process.

Grant Budgets, Appropriations, and Budget Amendments Made Easy
This class is open to all State Employees. The class will guide participants through the process of how to appropriate federal grant funds into their budgets, how to work efficiently and effectively with the budget, management, and legislative review process. This is an introductory level course, no previous experience is required.

Grants and Procurement
This class is open to all State Employees. The class will guide participants through the process of how a pass-through entity determines and defines the difference between a sub-recipient grant award and a procurement contract; the consequences of having an inappropriate vehicle in place; and, the federal guidance on this often confusing subject. This class is designed to illustrate the importance of distinguishing between grant award documents and procurement contracts, and the consequences to using the wrong vehicle.
This is an introductory level course, no previous experience is required.

Grants Made Easy: Cost Principles
This class is open to all State Employees, Local Governments, Universities, Non-Profits, and other private entities interested in post-award grants management compliance with their Federal grant awards and will focus on the CFR's and OMB Circulars specific to financial regulations. This class will provide recipient and pass-through personnel with an understanding of the cost principle circulars as well as equip them with practical experience in the application of the principles. This is an intermediate level course; some post-award grants management experience is recommended.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand the big picture of grants and the basics of grant requirements
  2. Gain knowledge of the principles of OMB Cost Circulars (A-21, A-87 and A-122)
  3. Understand basic requirements of allowable costs against Federal grants
  4. Recognize vulnerable areas in grant audits

Grants Made Easy: Administrative Requirements
This class is open to all State Employees, Local Governments, Universities, Non-Profits, and other private entities interested in post-award grants management compliance with their Federal grant awards and will focus on the CFR's and OMB Circulars specific to administrative regulations. This class is designed to provide the participants with a general knowledge and understanding of the administrative requirements pertaining to federal grants and cooperative agreements. This is an intermediate level course; some post-award grants management experience is recommended.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Gain and build on a fundamental understanding of the administrative requirements under OMB Circular A-102: Grants and Agreements with State and Local Governments and 2 CFR Part 215: Uniform Administrative Requirements for Grants and Agreements with Institutions of Higher Education, Hospitals, and Other Nonprofit Organizations (formerly OMB Circular A-110).
  2. Learn which specific provisions apply to their grant, understand what the procurement provisions really mean, Determine which contract clauses are required on contracts under grants, learn about records management and record disposition, develop an understanding of the reporting requirements and there importance.

Grants Made Easy: Federal Grants Law
This class is open to all State Employees, Local Governments, Universities, Non-Profits, and other private entities interested in gaining an understanding of and complying with federal grant requirements. Its focus will be on the Federal grants lifecycle and will provide participants with an understanding of the legal underpinnings of Federal grants law including how to interpret grant requirements, avoid common legal pitfalls and navigate the disputes resolution process. This class is interactive lecture style. This is an intermediate level course; some post-award grants management experience is recommended.

Learning Objectives:
  1. Upon completion of this course, participants will understand federal law applicable to federal grants.
  2. Participants will gain greater knowledge of key grants management concepts and how they relate to each other.
  3. Participants will be able to identify high-risk areas and how to address them.
