Brown congratulates a UMES graduate

Lt. Governor Brown Delivers Commencement Address at UMES Fall Ceremony

In December, Brown gave the commencement address before an audience of over 3,000 at the 2011 University of Maryland Eastern Shore fall ceremony, calling upon graduates to “seek to achieve greatness and make a difference through service.” Over 260 degrees were conferred during the ceremony, including 36 master’s degrees and 10 doctoral degrees.

“Today represents a great achievement, but you are actually just getting started,” Lt. Governor Brown told students. “Your graduation is the beginning of a journey that will shape who you are and what you will do with your life. Now is the time to figure out what motivates you, to define your life’s goals, and to determine what contributions and the difference you’ll make in this world.”
