Lieutenant Governor Helps Villa Julie College Break Ground on New School of Business

Baltimore, MD - (May 31, 2007) Today Lt. Governor Anthony G. Brown participated in a groundbreaking ceremony for Villa Julie College’s new academic building at the College’s Owings Mills campus. The building will house Villa Julie’s new School of Business, which was announced in late 2006.

“Governor O’Malley and I are committed to our excellent institutions of higher learning in Maryland,” said Lt. Governor Brown.  “I am proud to be here today to break ground on a this New School of Business for Villa Julie College.”

Villa Julie has the only nationally-approved four-year Paralegal Studies program in Maryland. More than 50 percent of the program's alumni now work in Baltimore City in a variety of work settings, including the Maryland Attorney General’s office, the State Attorney’s office, the U.S. Attorney General’s office, the circuit, federal, and district courts, major law firms, T. Rowe Price, major downtown banks, the IRS and other governmental agencies.

The Lieutenant Governor was joined by speakers State Sen. Robert A. Zirkin, Kevin G. Byrnes, Villa Julie Board of Trustees Chair and president and COO of Provident Bank, VJC President Kevin J. Manning, and Keith G. Greer, Jr., a 2007 Villa Julie graduate.
