Statement from Lt. Governor Anthony G. Brown Applauding Governor's Office for Children on Work to End Childhood Hunger
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (November 20, 2009) – Lt. Governor Anthony G. Brown released the following statement today applauding the Governor’s Office for Children on their efforts to end childhood hunger in Maryland by 2015:
“This week, Marylanders observed Maryland Hunger Awareness Week and Maryland’s one year anniversary of the Partnership to End Childhood Hunger. As the week ends, it is appropriate that we also celebrate our partnerships throughout the state that yield great progress and promote the wellbeing of our young Marylanders. Through important initiatives, programs and collaborations, more children have access to daily nutritious meals.
“Governor O’Malley and I are committed to ending childhood hunger in Maryland because we believe that there is no such thing as a spare Marylander. Healthy children make the best students, and bright students make up a strong workforce that will produce tomorrow’s finest leaders.
“I applaud Rosemary King Johnston on her critical leadership and I commend the Governor’s Office for Children and all our partners who work each and every day to end childhood hunger in Maryland by 2015 and ensure that no child goes to bed hungry.”
