Statement from Lt. Governor Anthony G. Brown on the New Year

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (December 31, 2009) – Lt. Governor Anthony G. Brown released the following statement today:

“I send my warmest wishes to all Marylanders today for a happy and healthy New Year. During the last year, we faced many challenges, most notably a global economic recession. Still, as we turn the page on another year, I believe there is a great deal from this last year to celebrate. Maryland’s public schools were ranked best in the nation this year. Our workforce maintained its place as one of the most dynamic and best educated. And our Governor was the only governor in America to be touted as one of Governing Magazine’s Top Public Officials.

“As we begin a New Year, I remain confident that because of the choices we’ve made together and because of Governor O’Malley’s leadership, we are better positioned than any other state to make 2010 the best year we’ve known.”
