Public safety is the greatest responsibility of government at every level; and because we are committed to moving our State forward, and delivering safer neighborhoods for every Maryland family, we’ve set the goal of reducing violent crime in Maryland by 20% by the end of 2012 (compared to 2006 levels).Through 2011, we have achieved a 24.5% crime reduction*.
* This is a 24.7 % reduction since the 2006 baseline. (2011 numbers are preliminary)
