Maryland will soon experience the largest job influx since World War II. With thousands of new direct jobs coming to Aberdeen Proving Ground, Fort Meade, Andrews Air Force Base and the National Naval Medical Center at Bethesda, we expect the base realignment and closures to create as many as 60,000 new jobs in Maryland.
To prepare for this growth Governor O=Malley created the BRAC subcabinet and asked me to serve as its chair. The subcabinet will horizontally coordinate our efforts on the State level and work vertically to coordinate at the Federal, regional and local levels.
Maryland has been called to play a greater role in our security. Together we'll answer that call.
